HAMILTON - Nelson D. "Buddy" Macrie, of Hamilton, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 10, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton.|
Born in Hammonton, he was a longtime Hamilton area resident. Nelson was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, USS Missouri and USS Macon and served during the Korean War. He was a member of the VFW Post 3525.
Nelson worked as a chef/baker for many years. He enjoyed trips to Atlantic City and visiting a special group of friends there. Buddy had a passion for music, especially playing the guitar with his band, "The Separations." He was also an animal lover and a wonderful husband, father and grandfather.
Predeceased by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Dominick Macrie, his siblings, Joseph, Doris, Pauline and Stella, he is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Catherine (Poland) Macrie; his son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Tracy Macrie of Hamilton; his sister, Eileen and sister-in-law Eva; his granddaughter, Megan Macrie of Hamilton; his dear friends, Dan Conner, Pat Massei and Gloria Williams; his many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and his two cats, Smitten and Zipper.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 8:30 a.m. at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. Interment will follow in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 14 Chesterfield Arneytown Road, Wrightstown.
Family and friends may call on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Saul Colonial Home.
