Pauline (Strain) Dawson

Obituary Condolences

"Silent night, holy night
All is calm, all is bright"
HAMILTON - Pauline (Strain) Dawson, 83, met Heavenly hosts in 2012, on the evening when Christ the child was born, December 25.
Born in Atlantic City, Pauline grew up on Warren Street in Trenton and then raised her family in Morrisville, Pa. She was employed by Nylomatic (Midland Ross) in Pennsylvania for 15 years. After living in Morrisville, she moved to Hamilton, where she resided with her sister up until her passing.
Pauline loved to cook, decorate, and mentor. She enjoyed spending time with family and her cat Cynthia of 19.5 years. She was appreciative of all who helped her and would leave soda out for the garbage men for doing such a hard but much-needed job. Pauline was also known both for her wit and her narratives of bygone days. On Christmas Eve, she had a circle of family around her hospital bed, entertained by her humor and story-telling.
Pauline was predeceased by her husband Herbert (Scotty) Dawson, her parents, Sophie and Charles, and by her brother, Charles Strain, Jr. She is survived by her best friend and loyal sister, Joan Pilenza and her five loving children and their spouses: Robert Dawson, Shirley and Gene Bellardo, Denise and Bill Darnell, and Richard and Joy Dawson, all from the Trenton area, and Joan Dawson of Maryland. Pauline leaves behind ten grandchildren: Dana Dawson in Pennsylvania, Claudine and Clint Dawson in Germany, Gene Bellardo, Jr. and wife Jeanna, Lindsey Bellardo, all of Pennsylvania, Tara Dawson of New Jersey, Taylor and husband Eric Snyder of Delaware, Brian Scott, Mathew Tyler and Victoria Rose Dawson, all of New Jersey; and two great-grandchildren, Nathan and Braxton Snyder of Delaware.
The viewing will be held between 8 and 10 a.m. Thursday (Jan. 3) at Kingston & Kemp Funeral Home, 260 Whitehorse Ave., Hamilton, and will be followed at 11 a.m. by a Mass at St. Raphael's Church, 3500 S. Broad St., Hamilton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, 1200 Cedar Lane.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to Pauline's favorite charities, , 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105, or to the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen, 72 Escher St., Trenton, NJ 08609.
