Rowena Robin Brown Obituary
EWING - Rowena Robin Brown, 57, of Ewing, departed this life on Friday, June 27, 2014, when God called her peacefully in her sleep to eternal rest. She was the daughter of the late W. Frank Brown Sr. and Marjorie Davis Brown.
Rowena was born on July 31, 1956 at Helene Fuld Hospital (currently Capitol Health Regional Medical Center). Rowena received her basic education in the Trenton public schools. She attended Rider University where she earned her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees majoring in accounting.
Early in her career Rowena was an accountant at the Yardville National Bank, Yardville. Robin then went to work for the Anderson Funeral Services, New Brunswick. Rowena later served as an accountant with the Saint Francis Medical Center School of Nursing. She culminated her career with the Educational Testing Service where she retired after 22 years of service.
Rowena accepted Christ and was baptized at a very early age. She was a lifetime member of The Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church, where her mother, Ms. Marjorie Davis Brown, actually went into labor singing in the choir. Rowena served on various auxiliaries, boards and organizations while a member at Jerusalem, which included the following: the Junior Usher Board, the Junior Nurse's Society, director and choir member for the Youth Choir, Young Adult Choir, Jerusalem Combined Choir, and Gospel Chorus. Rowena was a faithful Sunday School teacher who taught the primary and junior classes. She faithfully served many years as the church clerk. Rowena was affectionately named "Angel" by her adopted brother Don and truly, she was an angel here on earth. She was the most sensitive, sweetest, gentlest, thoughtful, kind, tenderhearted, caring and compassionate person. Rowena was also gifted and graced by God with a melodic soprano voice which seemed to penetrate the very gates of Heaven. She will be remembered for her renditions of anthems, hymns and gospels alike. Rowena will forever be remembered by the singing of her favorite hymn "Pass Me Not O Gentle Saviour." Robin also possessed an inherent love and passion for beautiful "chapeaus," she provided hats and beautified many "First Ladies" and parishioners in the Baptist and African Methodist Episcopal Churches.
In addition to her parents Rowena was predeceased by two biological brothers, W. Frank Brown Jr., Marvin Charles Brown, and her adopted brother Noland Lee Ewell. She leaves to cherish her memory her devoted and beloved siblings, her sister and brother-in-love, Mrs. Prudence Hope Wade and the Reverend Dr. Robert C. Wade of Florence; her brother, Travis Mark Brown and adopted brother Donald Roy Rubel Jr. of Ewing; sister-in-love, Ann Pinella Brown of Rochester, N.Y.; one aunt, Mamie D. Jacobs of Los Angeles; three nephews, W. Frank Brown, III (Lisa) of Trenton, Eric Dwayne Brown (Alejandra) of Carrollton, Texas and Troy Elliott Brown (Tanya) of Ewing.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, at the Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Reverend S. Howard Woodson, Jr. Way, Trenton. The Reverend Darrell L. Armstrong, Pastor, the Reverend Darnell K. Wise, Eulogist. Entombment will be in the Greenwood Cemetery Mausoleum, Hamilton Township.
