Bill was born in Trenton, N.J. on September 19, 1930, and lived most of his adult life in Hamilton Square, N.J. During the Korean War, Bill served our nation proudly as a member of the United States Air Force; then worked tirelessly for 43 years until his retirement.
Bill is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 40 years, Mary Claire Jones Grocott; his daughters, Suzanne Marie (and husband, Daniel) Rodgers of Advance and Michelle Elizabeth (and husband, Richard) Talbot of Salisbury; his grandchildren, Zachary James Rodgers, Braeden Andrew Rodgers, Kaitlyn Elizabeth Talbot and Christopher Jacob Talbot; sister-in-law, Sr. Judith Jones; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Mary Catherine and William Grocott, his brothers, Donald and Arthur Grocott, and sister, Ruth Schwartzkopf. He was also preceded in death by his best-friend, his father-in-law, James Francis Jones. Bill loved his wife and daughters dearly, and is remembered with joy as a devoted husband, dad and Pop-Pop. He enjoyed being with his grandchildren, who brought great love to his life.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Clemmons, N.C., by Father Steve Hoyt. The family wishes to thank Donna Wilson, Barbara Moore and the many other hospice nurses, CNA's, doctors and social workers who cared for Bill.
In lieu of flowers, please send memorials to the Kate B. Reynolds Hospice & Palliative Care Center, 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, NC 27103.
