William G. Paul

Obituary Condolences

CHESTERFIELD - William G. Paul, 58, died peacefully on Friday surrounded by his most dear friends on their annual camping trip, in his favorite place, God's great outdoors.
"Billy Paul," as everyone knew him, grew up in Bordentown, but in his own words had been from "Tucson to Tucumcari" and described how incredible it was to cross the continental divide. After graduating from Bordentown Regional High School he learned the art of operating heavy equipment at United States Steel where he worked for 14 years. Upon the partial shutdown of the steel plant, he relocated to California for seven years and during that time he specialized in construction. He returned to New Jersey in 1996 and worked in construction and has since worked at the N.J. Department of Transportation.
Quiet and humble, he will be most remembered as the man who could create anything from nothing, be counted on for everything, and his very dry humor. A true hobbyist and talented artist, he enjoyed boating, hunting, motorcycling and woodcarving; and was teaching his 13-year-old son and namesake "Little Billy" to shoot a crossbow. A loyal member of the First Baptist Church of Bordentown, he married his childhood next door neighbor Joanne (Brucks) Paul in 1998. His greatest joy was the love he shared with his wife and son.
He was predeceased by his parents, William and Dolores Paul, and most recently his brother-in-law, William Brucks of Manahawkin. He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne Paul, his son, William Paul, his parents-in-law, Maryann and William Goodrich of Bordentown, his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Maryann and Will Wall of Mickleton, Clare and Tim Wadsworth of Browns Mills, Diane Brucks of Manahawkin, Sally Brucks of South Dakota, John and Sherri Brucks of Fieldsboro, Michelle and Mike Hennessy of Roebling, Bill and Violet Goodrich of Indianapolis, Bob and Claudia Goodrich of California and Bruce and Linda Goodrich of California, nieces, Shannon and Katie Thompson, Michele Melton and Kirsten Webster and nephews, Eric Brucks, Marty Heupal, BJ and Tim Wadsworth and Brett and Jeremy Goodrich. Along with several great- nieces and -nephews.
