Thelma A. Sturgis Obituary
RICHMOND, Va. - Thelma A. Sturgis, 95, of Richmond, passed away on Thursday, January 30, 2014 at the Masonic Home of Virginia in Richmond.
Born in Trenton, N.J., Mrs. Sturgis lived in Ewing, N.J. for 35 years, moved to Estero, Fla. for 16 years, Hamilton, N.J. for five years, and then moved to Richmond, and has been living there for the past seven and a half years. Mrs. Sturgis was a graduate of Trenton High School and St. Francis School of Nursing, class of 1939. She was a Registered Nurse, working at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, N.J. for many years. She then worked at H.D. Lee Company in Trenton, as a personnel manager, before retiring in 1971. Mrs. Sturgis was a former member of the Morning Star Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Past Mother Advisor for Trenton Assembly No. 9, International Order of Rainbow for Girls.
Predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Sturgis Jr., her parents, Leslie F. and Helena E. (Patrick) Armstrong and her son-in-law, Richard F. Anthony, she is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Pamela and Daniel Rose of Midlothian, and Patricia Anthony of Hamilton, N.J.; her five grandchildren, Rebecca Anthony-Ercolino and her husband, John, Sandra DePew and her husband, Kenneth, Karen Kline and her husband, Douglas, Scott Rose and his wife, Amber, and Thomas Anthony; and her eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, February 4, at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square, N.J. Interment will follow at Ewing Cemetery, Ewing, N.J. Family and friends may gather on Tuesday, February 4, from noon until the time of services at Saul Colonial Home.
