A member of Lady of Sorrows Church and later attending St. Vincent De Paul and St. John churches, Shirley was a devout Catholic who lived her life with faith and quiet dignity. Shirley loved to sing and dance, and had the opportunity during her youth to tap dance on Broadway. Growing up in New York City, she enjoyed many wonderful times going to movies and Broadway shows with her parents, visiting family in New York, Long Island and New Jersey, and enjoyed seeing and meeting a number of that era's musicians and entertainers.
Shirley graduated from the prestigious Julia Richmond High School with honors in academic studies, languages and business. Upon her graduation, she worked in New York City as an executive secretary at a number of major New York business firms.
Daughter of the late Joseph and Ann McNeill Jesnes, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Katherine Woods of Cream Ridge, daughter and son-in-law, Diana and John Moreland of Louisville, Colo., her grandchildren, Dana Maulshagen and her husband Rob, Derek Woods and his wife Lauren, Sarah Moreland, Genevieve Moreland, great-grandchildren, James and Eve Maulshagen, cousin, Gene Strupp and his wife Fay, sister-in-law Shirley Visdas, Jean McNeill, and many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbors.
A private family gathering will take place at the Peppler funeral home, 122 Crosswicks St., Bordentown on Wednesday, February 26 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. to be followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Lady of Sorrows Church, 3816 East State Street Ext., Mercerville, at 11 a.m. Following the mass, there will be graveside services at St. Mary's Cemetery on Cedar Lane, Trenton.
