RICHMOND, Va. - Thornton Williams Jr., 89, of Richmond, departed this life on Saturday, May 31, 2014, in Richmond.
Born in Dunn, N.C., Mr. Williams was a resident of Trenton, N.J., for most of his life before moving to Richmond in 2009. He was a graduate of Armstrong High School in Richmond and attended North Carolina College for Negroes which became North Carolina Central University. He was employed as a Medical Security Officer for the State of New Jersey Anne Klein Forensic Center. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon. He was a member of Cadwalader Library Book Club, the Reading Senior Citizen Center, Cadwalader Place Civic Association, Fleet Bank Investors Club, Mercer Medical Center Neighbors Group, West Ward and Police Mini-Station Volunteer and Citizens Patrol.
Predeceased by his wife, Earline Williams, his parents, the Rev. Thornton Thomas Williams Sr. and Laura Della McLauren Williams, surviving are a son, L.B. Williams; a brother, John D. Williams; a sister, Maserine (Precious) Williams; several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Friday, June 6, at Shiloh Baptist Church, 340 Rev. S. Howard Woodson Jr. Way, Trenton, NJ 08618. Interment will be in Ewing Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from noon to 1 p.m. at the church. Arrangements are by Campbell Funeral Chapel, Trenton, N.J.
