Orsola DiCarlo Gervasio HAMILTON - Orsola DiCarlo Gervasio, 96, passed away at her home on Sunday, July 13. A native of Casandrino (Naples) Italy she came to the United States in 1954, residing in Trenton until moving to Hamilton in 2000. She was especially involved in the organizations and activities of her parish, Our Lady of the Angels at Saint Joachim Church, Trenton. She was a member of the parish council, Sanctuary Guild and long-serving president of the Italian societies of the parish: Sacred Heart, Assunta, Rosary, and Christian Mothers. She was also prefect of the Italian Secular Franciscan Community. During her young adult life in Italy Orsola was a leader in Catholic Action and the Christian Democratic Party (DC). She was also a parish catechist. She is predeceased by her parents, Domenico and Antonietta D'Angelo, her beloved husband of 31 years, Tammaro, her brothers, Giuseppe, Salvatore, Umberto, her sisters, Vincenza, Giuseppina, and Margherita. She is survived by her children: Msgr. Thomas Gervasio of Hamilton, her daughter Vincenza Brophy and son-in-law, Thomas of Allentown, and her daughter Margherita LeRoy of Hamilton. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Alison and Dr. Philip Dorsey of New Orleans; Lauren and Kevin Cooper, of Brooklyn and her great granddaughter, Avery Louise Dorsey. Orsola was also the Aunt and Step mother of Ralph (deceased) Angelina Barnila, Domenic and Gloria Gervasio, Anthony and Marie Gervasio, Olimpia Burd, Antoinette Irwin, Sr. Frances Gervasio, M.P.F., Josephine Chianese, Anne and Frank Grove, and Ursula Brinkerhoff. Likewise, she is survived by numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. The funeral rites will begin on Thursday, July 17, 2014 at 3:30 pm with the Rite of Reception at St Joachim Church, 21-23 Bayard St, Trenton. Visiting hours will follow until 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, July 18, 2014 at 11:00 am at St. Joachim Church. Family members and friends participating are requested to go directly to the church for the Funeral Mass. Interment will follow at Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Gruerio Funeral Home, Trenton. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Orsola's memory to Our Lady of the Angels Parish, Trenton or to the Maestre Pie Filippini, Villa Walsh, 455 Western Avenue, Morristown, NJ 07960
