Edward Tkacs Obituary

PRINCETON - Edward R. Tkacs, age 85, of Princeton, died Wednesday, May 25, 2011, at the University Medical Center at Princeton.
Born and raised in Princeton, he retired from Princeton University as a foreman in the paint shop after many years of service. A U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, he was a Gunners Mate 2nd Class serving on the USS Clinton from 1942 to 1946. He was a member of St. Paul's Church in Princeton. He was a member of the VFW of Lawrenceville, and the American Legion Post No. 414 of Lawrenceville.
Son of the late John Joseph and Mary Tkacs, and brother of the late George, Andrew, and Michael, he is survived by his wife, Irene B. Tkacs; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathleen M. and Robert A. Ziolowski, Jacqueline A. and John J. Heintz all of Hamilton Township; three grandchildren, John Joseph Heintz Jr., Samantha Rae Heintz and Robert Edward Ziolkowski; many nieces and nephews; and a sister, Irene Smith.
The funeral will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday (May 28) at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton. Burial will follow in Princeton Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday (May 27) at the funeral home.
