Helen Jaruszewski Obituary

HAMILTON -Helen K. Jaruszewski, of Hamilton Square, given by God on June 24, 1920, was born in Trenton, where she lived her entire life.
She was received in heaven by God on June 16, 2011, and was greeted by her dear husband, Raymond, her parents, Anna and Peter Kachmar, siblings, and friends.
She was a devoted mother to her caring daughter, Joyce Costello, and son-in-law, John, with whom she lived for more than 25 years, and enjoyed many vacations. She was a loving mother to her only son, James Jaruszewski and his wife Mary Ann. She was a faith-filled mother to her daughter, Sister Carol Jaruszewski RSM, a member of the Sisters of Mercy of the Mid Atlantic Community. She was an endearing grandmother to Patricia Costello, Anthony Jaruszewski and Mark Jaruszewski. She was a proud great-grandmother to Nicole and Sara Jaruszewski. She was a thoughtful aunt to Eileen Bernard, Kathleen Ress, the late Jack Kachmar, and several nephews and a niece in Texas.
Helen was a production worker at several plants and retired from Heinemann Electric, where she worked on switches for the Apollo spacecraft.
Helen was a devout member of St. Mary's of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, and their ladies auxiliary. She was a faithful, deeply spiritual woman who prayed the rosary, novenas, and celebrated liturgy regularly. She found strength, courage and peace in her relationship with God and her Catholic faith.
In addition to cherishing her time with her family, Helen enjoyed socializing as a part of the Hamiltonian Seniors.
She loved sewing, both for herself and her children, and took pride in being well dressed. She enjoyed gardening, dining on her home-grown Supersonic variety tomatoes, basil, peppers, and delighting in a variety of flowers, especially roses.
She was a loyal fan of the Philadelphia Phillies, loved playing bingo, pinochle, canasta, and solving find-a-word puzzles.
Though small in stature, she had a big heart, full of faith and love.
Calling hours will be tonight (June 19) from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Kutch Funeral Home, 215 Grand St., Trenton, with Parastas at 7 p.m. Office of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Monday (June 20) from St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Church, Grand and Malone streets, Trenton. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Byzantine Catholic Cemetery No. 2.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Helen's name may be made to the Sisters of Mercy House of Prayer, 1651 US. Highway 22W, Watchung, NJ 07069, or to St. Mary's of the Assumption Byzantine Catholic Church, 411 Adeline St., Trenton, NJ 08611.

May your happiness today touch us in all our days to come!

Joyce, Jimmy and Carol: My heart and family were saddened to learn of the passing of your Mom. I only have fond memories of my youth as her neighbor in the old hood in Trenton. She helped me make my first Easter tree and took me to my first blessing of the food. And then, she shared those delicious treats with me. She was a great friend to my Mom, who at 93 still speaks highly of her. My brother and I were blessed to be part of the Jaruszewski family and household and certainly appreciate the God filled home she shared with us. God bless and keep you all, may she rest in peace. Much love, Patti Meskill Preston. PS we had great times right Joyce! Summer was our favorite.

Carol, Joyce, Jim - please accept my condolences on the passing of your mother.

I vividly recall her driving my mother and I into downtown Trenton to shop in her 1956 Pontiac so many years ago.

She is in my prayers.

Knowing Helen was my joy and privledge. She always had a smile when we spoke and treated my daughter as her own grandchild. Loved her laugh and when she would say "ohhhhhhhhhh" you knew that laugh was coming. Jesus, give her a big hug from me.
