ROBBINSVILLE - Kenneth J. Kelly, 89, of Robbinsville (formerly Windsor) passed away on Friday, Jan. 11, 2013, at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital at Hamilton surrounded by his family.
Born in Trenton, Mr. Kelly retired from Robbinsville (Washington) Township Road Department. He assisted with morning Mass at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, served in the 44th Division Air National Guard, and owned an auto body shop. He loved spending time with family, especially grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He enjoyed family gatherings especially St. Patrick Day! He truly had a special gift for lighting up the room when he entered, making everyone laugh, always had a story to tell and shared many of his childhood memories with an amazing memory for facts. He had a passion for watching granddaughter Kristin's softball games and practices without ever missing one, and spent leisure time watching sports especially football and golf.
Son of the late Pauline Kelly Seick and William Kelly, husband of the late Florence M. Hoffman Shenk Kelly, father of the late Cynthia Knapp (John), and brother of the late William Kelly, he is survived by his children, Sheri Harhigh (Steven) of West Windsor, Kathleen Kelly of Hightstown, Kathleen Harmon (Robert), Beatrice Kapple (Kenneth), James Shenk Jr. (Kathleen) of Maryland, Claudia Taylor of Calif.; his sister, Doris Inverso; his brother, Paul Seick (Maryellen); his 20 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 18, at the Saul Colonial Home, 3795 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. at St. Gregory the Great Roman Catholic Church, 4620 Nottingham Way, Hamilton Square. Interment will follow in St. John's Cemetery in Hamilton. Family and friends may call on Thursday, Jan. 17, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Saul Colonial Home.
