TRENTON - Gustav Schmidt, 80, of Trenton, passed away March 29, 2013, surrounded by his loving family.
Mr. Schmidt was born in Burghauer, Germany, and had been a Trenton area resident since 1951. He was a self-employed painting contractor. Gus was a life member of the German American Society, he enjoyed bird watching, gardening and soccer.
Husband of the late Lena Kugel Schmidt, surviving are two sons and a daughter-in-law, Gustav Schmidt Jr. of Bordentown, Rudy W. Schmidt and Sheila of Florence; his loving companion, Marta Vaccaro and family; three grandchildren, Michael, Nicholas and Adam Schmidt; brothers and sisters, Otto and Grettel, Rudy and Wilma and Helga and Irvin all of Germany; a nephew, Martin Fischer; special friends, Katerina Betts, John Schujko and Rich; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Relatives and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Knott's Colonial Funeral Home, 2946 South Broad St., Hamilton. Interment will be private for the family at Fountain Lawn Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Samaritan Hospice, 175 Madison Ave., Mt. Holly, NJ 08060.
