Ernestine "Tina" Mitchell, 81, of Trenton, passed away at her home on March 21, 2013 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Mitchell was born and raised in Louisville, Kentucky and graduated from Central High School in Louisville. She was a longtime resident of Trenton, moving to the area in the early 1960s after her marriage to Guy T. Mitchell, a Trenton native. She was employed by Educational Testing Service (ETS) for two decades, where she held several leadership positions. Upon her retirement from ETS in 1987, she was an Assistant Director in the Center for Occupational and Professional Assessment (COPA). Prior to working at ETS she was employed by TWA, based in New York City.
Mrs. Mitchell was the daughter of the late Ernest Cook and Francis Mosby. She was predeceased by her husband, Guy T. Mitchell, and her two sisters, Joyceline Owens and Lettie Henderson. She is survived by her maternal aunt; Betty White; of Louisville Ky.; nieces; Lillian Bryant; of Florida; Geraldine and Ramona Henderson; of Philadelphia; nephew; Eugene Henderson; of Philadelphia; two sisters-in-law; Rebecca Mathis and Hannah Mitchell; of Trenton; and a host of other nieces, nephews, and cousins. She is also survived by her godson; Nelson Robert Green; of West New York, NJ; and special friends; Lenora M. Green; of Ewing and Diane Bowman; of Princeton Junction.
A memorial service celebrating Mrs. Mitchell's life will be held on Saturday (Apr. 6) at 11 a.m. at the Hughes Funeral Home, 324 Bellevue Avenue, Trenton. Memorial contributions in Mrs. Mitchell's name may be made to those charities that serve children, the homeless, and victims of domestic violence, as these were causes that were important to her.
