Cornelius Lloyd Yayah Boakai was born on Jan. 12, 1992 at the former Mercer Medical Center in Trenton, N.J., to Morris and Selina Boakai. He departed this life on April 11, 2013, at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton, N.J.|
Yayah, as he was affectionately called, was educated in the Trenton public school system and attended Mercer County Community College to pursue a degree in mass communications. Yayah had a love for football. He played cornerback position on the Gattica Football team. He also had a great personality for acting and drama. He was an avid New York Giants and Brooklyn Nets fan. He was well liked by those who knew and loved him. He was naturally endowed with leadership abilities whose fruition will now not be realized. He enjoyed being with his family and friends. In sadness we bid farewell to Cornelius who leaves to cherish his memories his parents, Morris and Selina Boakai, his fiancée, Chantel Gerancon, his siblings, Famatta, Cermor Rio, Varney, Vance, Yassah, Morris, Jr. and his grandmother, Jerusha L. Jallah, and many uncles, aunties, cousins, nieces and friends.
Wake keeping will start at 7:30 p.m. Friday, April 26, and the funeral will be on Saturday, April 27, beginning at 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. at Capital Assembly of God Church, 1380 Whitehorse Hamilton Sqquare Road, Hamilton, NJ 08690. Interment will be at Greenwood Cemetery, Hamilton, N.J. Cornelius' remains are under the directorship of Turay Memorial Chapel, Philadelphia, Pa.
