Arthur M. Glennon, 77, of The Villages , Florida passed away July 12, 2013 at The Villages Regional Hospital. He was born on March 21, 1936 in Trenton, New Jersey to Harold and Frances Glennon.|
At the age of 18, Mr. Glennon set out on his own. Working at U.S. Steel, Fairless works in Morristown, PA. Fifteen years later the budding entrepreneur went on to own and operate a Hess gas station in Vineland, NJ and multiple McDonald's restaurants in Monticello, KY, Hartwell, GA and Elberton, GA. His lifelong hobbies include baseball-softball and bowling along with his love of dogs especially his precious dog Pepper.
Since retiring in 1998 and moving to The Villages Florida in 2002 he took up golf and continued playing softball in his community for many years, where he was affectionately known as "The Mayor" of Calumet Grove south.
Arthur is survived by his wife of 52 years; Gail; two sons; Craig; of Hartwell, GA and Jeffrey and his wife Vera; and two grandchildren; Jayme Sixx and Matthew Glennon, all of Summerfield, FL.
A memorial services will be at Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services - The Villages on Thursday (July 18) at 11 a.m. A private committal ceremony will be at Highland Memorial Park at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the
