Rose Mercatanti HAMILTON - Rose Mercatanti, 98, of Hamilton, passed away Monday, January 20, 2014 at home. Born in Trenton she was a lifelong resident of Lawrence and Hamilton Townships. She retired from General Motors Fisher Body after 30 years. Following GM she was employed by Mercatanti Ford, Bordentown, NJ for 14 years. Rose was a lifelong member of Sacred Heart Church, Trenton. She was also a member of Local 731 U.A.W. Union and The Mount Carmel Guild. Daughter of the late, Jesse and Rose Richetti Ailey; widow of Peter E. Mercatanti, Sr.; and sister of the late, Josephine Infantine, Francis C. Ailey and Thomas Ailey. She is survived by her son, Peter E. Mercatanti, Jr. and Lisa Mercatanti of Spring Lake NJ; daughter and son-in-law, Rosemary Scherma and Umberto Scherma, Sr. of Darnestown, Maryland; six grandchildren, Vinissa Mercatanti of Delray Beach, Fla., Christina Scherma of New York City, NY, Roberto Scherma of New York City, NY , Umberto Scherma, Jr. of West Palm Beach, Fla., Charles Adcock of Mounds, Ok and Peter C. Mercatanti of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; three great grandchildren, Riley Blann, and Addison and Cooper Adcock ; and many nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated Friday, January 24, at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 343 S. Broad Street, Trenton. Interment will follow in Our Lady of Lourdes Cemetery, 400 Woolsey Street, Hamilton. Relatives and friends are invited to pay their respects to Rose's family on Friday from 9:00 a.m. until time of Mass at the church. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to: Sacred Heart Church, 343 S.Broad Street, Trenton, NJ 08608. Arrangements are being coordinated by Gruerio Funeral Home. Trenton.
