Paul O'Block Obituary
Paul "Scotty" O'Block, 102, a lifelong resident of Plum, passed away quietly and comfortably Friday, Oct. 6, 2017. Paul was born June 22, 1915, to the late Frances (Sega) and Gregor O'Block. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary Galicic O'Block for 66 years. Survivors include his daughter, Patty Neff, and husband, Ed, of Plum; and son, Robert O'Block, and wife, Megan, of Boston; grandchildren, Amy Neff (Gurb) Thind, Susan Neff (Steve), Kelsey, Robert (Maggie), and Gregory and Kevin O'Block. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren, Katie, Annie, McKenna and Jack. He was a brother of the late Frances O'Block, Josephine Podobnik, and Anthony, Frank, Vencil, Ignatius and Henry O'Block. He also leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews, and many great friends. His lifetime work was as a master mechanic for A.E. O'Block Construction and was the longest-standing member of Local Union No. 66 Operating Engineers. He was a lifetime active member of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, and participated in many Slovene Fraternal activities, including the American Fraternal Union, past national president, American Slovene Committee, the Slovene Radio Program, and charter member of the Slovene Association of Center in Plum. Paul served on the Plum School Authority for many years and was a longtime member of the Oakmont Elks. Hunting and fishing were favorite activities, and he was a longtime fan of Pirates baseball and the Pittsburgh Steelers. He lived a long, full life and will be lovingly missed by all. We live to cherish his memory.
Friends and relatives will be received from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, and from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, at MAURICE L. KNEE LTD. FUNERAL HOME, 7663 Saltsburg Road (across from S and T Bank), Plum. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, at St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Unity, Pa. Interment will follow in Plum Creek Cemetery.
