Joseph J. ?Rankin Razor? Camic, 88, of McKeesport, formerly of Rankin, died Sunday, April 3, 2011, at Sycamore Estate. Born November 28, 1922, in Youngstown, Ohio, he was the son of the late Joseph J. Camic Sr. and Helen (Brebic) Camic and the husband of the late Anne Sigmund Camic. Joe was a graduate of Rankin High School and Duquesne University and did graduate work at LaSalle University. He worked as a former partner of Biddlestone Transfer, Sigmund Transfer, and Lincoln Manor Hotel. While Mayor Fullard was in office, he served as city administrator, and during World War II he served in the Pacific Theatre in the Army Air Corps. He was a member of the McKeesport Lions Club, Elks Club 36 of McKeesport, the American Legion Post 361 of McKeesport and Liberty Presbyterian Church. The Rankin Razor was well known as a great basketball player. He even played professional basketball for Tri-Cities Blackhawks in Moline, Iowa, in the National Professional Basketball League. He was a member of the Duquesne University All-Time Basketball Team and received the McKeesport Athletics Sports Association Award, in addition to being inducted into the PA Sports Hall of Fame East Boros Chapter and the Duquesne University Sports Hall of Fame. Joe was also awarded Athletic Achievement in Basketball from Rankin High School and was recognized as the Tri-state Most Valuable Player, ELO. He is survived by a son, Edward J. (Valerie) Camic of Port Vue; grandchildren Dr. Leigh Ann (Jon) Comstock of Pleasant Hills, Edward II (Hannah) of Elizabeth, and Katelyn and Brandon at home; and great-granddaughter Noelle. He was preceded in death by a son, Harry G. Camic, Esq.; a brother, Charles Camic; and a sister, Helen Witt. Visitation will be Thursday from 1 to 9 p.m. in Willig Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 220 Ninth St., McKeesport. Funeral Service will be Friday, April 8, 2011, at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Randy Sweet officiating. Burial will follow in Grandview Cemetery.?
