Doris M. English Obituary
Doris May English passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016, at UMPC East. Doris was born in Wright City, Mo., daughter of the late Carl and Lillian Bruning Hess. In addition to her parents, Doris was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William A. English, in 2015. Doris Hess met her future husband of 65 years while attending the University of Missouri, where she completed a Bachelor of Science in biology. The couple moved to Murrysville in the early '60s while Bill worked for Westinghouse R and D. Doris was active at the First United Methodist Church in Murrysville, and many community groups. She volunteered for many years with Meals on Wheels, and was an avid reader of historical novels and biographies. She is survived by two children, Susan H. (Richard) Orange, of Harrisburg, and William A. Jr. (Annette), of Oregon, Ohio. Also survived by four grandchildren, Maggie Takach (Jay), Carl Wessel (Rika), Sarah English, and Andrew English; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha Takach and Liam K. Wessel; and a sister, Helen Frederick, of Shawnee, Kan.
A memorial service for Doris will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the First United Methodist Church, Murrysville, with the Rev. Chris Livormore officiating.
