Joanne R. Hively Obituary
Joanne R. Hively, 83, of Saltsburg, formerly of Murrysville, went to be with the Lord Saturday, Dec. 17, 2016. She was born Aug. 1, 1933, in Arona. She was a daughter of the late Rev. Dwight M. and Ruth (Hysong) Spangler, of Pitcairn. She was married for 64 years to John W. Hively, the love of her life, who affectionately referred to her as "Josie". She was preceded in death by her sisters, Janet Price, of Portland, Ore., and Verda Cassidy, of Carnegie. She is survived by her husband and four daughters, Rebecca (James) Dittmar, of New Brighton, Patricia (James) Lucas, of Murrysville, Virginia "Ginger" (Victor) Shaffer, of Vandergrift, and Lori (Steve) Thomas, of Murrysville. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; numerous nieces; and her favorite nephew, Darrell Cassidy, of White Oak. She was a very active member of Broadway Alliance Church in East McKeesport, where she served in many capacities. Throughout the course of her life, she was employed by Westinghouse, Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh, First National Bank of Export and was a school bus driver for Franklin Regional School District for 18 years. Joanne had a compassionate heart and was greatly loved by everyone who knew her.
Visitors will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 21, 2016, at HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 22, 2016, at Murrysville Alliance Church, 4130 Old William Penn Highway, Murrysville, PA 15668. A luncheon will be served following the service. A private interment will be conducted at Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
