Donald Gilmore Obituary
Donald "Ducky" Gilmore, 85, of South Fayette, formally of McKeesport, died Monday, July 2, 2018. Born Nov. 22, 1932, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Thomas and Elizabeth Mulally Gilmore. Donald was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carol, by one day. He is survived by children, Raymond (Cathie) Gilmore, of Pittsburgh, Gary Gilmore, of Dallas, Texas, Beth Gilmore Jones, of Upper St. Clair, and Donald (Kelly) Gilmore, of South Fayette. He is also survived by grandchildren, Kathryn and Christopher Jones, Olivia and Luke Gilmore, Katelyn, Raymond, Charlotte and Thomas Gilmore; and great-granddaughter, Milana Gilmore. He was also preceded in death by grandson, Zachary Jones; brothers, Thomas Gilmore, Martin Gilmore and Raymond Gilmore; and sisters, Rose Gilmore Busch, Katherine Gilmore Cready, Elizabeth Gilmore Schreiner and Marylou Gilmore. Donald was a renowned football player for the McKeesport Tigers who went on to play for the Miami Hurricanes. His Army military service took him to Japan for two years where he served as part of the general's staff and specialized in telecommunications craft that prepared him for a long career with Motorola/Busch Radio. He spent much of his free time coaching youth football and baseball in McKeesport and was a mentor for many young men.
Family and friends will be received from 3 to 9 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2018, at STRIFFLER'S OF WHITE OAK CREMATION AND MORTUARY SERVICES, INC., 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak (412-678-6177). Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at St. Angela Merici Church, 1640 Fawcett Ave., White Oak, PA 15131. Burial will follow at New St. Joseph's Catholic Cemetery.
