Dorothy R. Gilbert, 88, of Elizabeth Township, passed away peacefully in her home, Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2018. She was born March 25, 1930, in McKeesport and was the daughter of the late John H. and Helen Livingstone Rudd. She was the wife of 66 years to the late David S. Her sense of humor, quick wit and joyful spirit brightened family times together. She was a woman of class, integrity and wisdom. Dorothy was a generous and devoted caregiver as her presence and dedication brought comfort to the many she helped. She was a fashionista and was very artistic and creative, designing jewelry and floral designs, as well as sewing and gardening. She was a former kindergarten Sunday school teacher and member of Peace Lutheran Church in Greenock. She had a deep love for children and animals, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Dorothy was affectionately loved as a second mother and grandmother to many. She is survived by her sons, Pastor David S. (Hinka) Gilbert III, of Kintnersville, Douglas D. Gilbert, of Elizabeth Township, and Drew J. (Michele) Gilbert, of Lincoln; daughter, Denise M. (Joel) Waldman, of Pittsburgh; and daughter-in-law, Fusayo Negishi Gilbert, of Pittsburgh. She was the beloved Nanny of David S. (Anna) Gilbert IV., Troy J. (Savannah) Gilbert, Nathan J. Gilbert, Natalie M. Gilbert and Ian J. Gilbert; and loving great-grandmother of Esther, Levi, Demi, Elias and Indie. She is also survived by nieces and nephews; her dog, Mina; as well as her grand-dogs. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by sister, Irene M. Keeler; brother, John H. "Jack" Rudd; as well as her special dogs, Ticker, Daisy, Penny, Suzy, DeeDee, Liebchen, Angel and Lita.
