Helen "Ginny" Virginia Carter, 78, of Atascocita, Texas, passed away from complications of pneumonia and her one year battle with cancer Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2017, in M.D. Anderson Hospital, Houston, Texas. Ginny was born Jan. 4, 1939, in Brackenridge.. Ginny loved to dance with her sisters and her very good friends in Pittsburgh. She loved the casino and playing cards. Most of all, she had loved her husband and wanted no others after his death. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles William Carter; parents, Christopher Paul and Helen Anita (Barr) Ashenbaugh; sisters, Mary (John Jack) Kabay and Carol Herschl; brother, George Ashenbaugh; and daughter-in-law, Susan (Hughes) Carter. She is survived by her daughter, Debra (Pat) Ryan, with whom she made her home; and her son, Charles Steven Carter; four grandchildren, Craig (Carrie) Myers, Cassie (Ronald) (Myers) Schultheis, Michelle (Joey) Carter and Christopher (Bubba) Carter; five great-grandchildren, Alivia and Alex Schultheis, Quinn and Talon Myers and Logan Myers; and several nieces and nephews.
According to Ginny's wishes, there was no public visitation. Her cremated ashes, along with her beloved husband Charles, were scattered at sea near the Keys in Florida.
