Harry L. Detar Obituary
Harry L. Detar, 71, of Harrison City, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 2, 2016, at Forbes Hospice, in Pittsburgh. Wednesdays will never be the same without Harry L. Detar. He left this world the way he lived his life, no muss, no fuss. June 27, 2016, would have marked his 35th wedding anniversary with the love of his life, Connie (Hafer). Besides his wife, he is survived by daughters, Barbara and Heather, of Williamsburg, Va.; sisters, Janet Wentrouble, of Jeannette, and Agnes Reynolds, of North Irwin; brothers-in-law, Ed Hafer and wife, Bonnie, of Delmont, and Larry Hafer, of Salem Township; sisters-in-law, Carol Cafiero and husband, Chris, of Conshohocken, Janet Hafer and fiance, John Thackray, of Edgewood, Cindy Hafer, of Salem Township, Carol Hafer, of Greensburg, and Barbara Detar, of Virginia Beach, Va.; and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews and countless good friends. Also missing him are his much-loved dogs, Peaches, Sophie and Noah. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Oscar and Dorothy Detar; mother-in-law, Connie Hafer; sister, Betty Koebler and husband, Ronald; brother, Jim Detar; nephew, John Koebler; nieces, Rose Marie Hafer and Gina Detar; and brothers-in-law, Bernie Reynolds, Rich Hafer and Mark Hafer. Harry retired from Laurel Aluminum Casting Co. in Glassport, loved golf and will be missed by all the guys from his golf league with whom he spent many unforgettable Wednesdays. He was a Vietnam veteran, an Airman in the Navy and also belonged to the Manor American Legion. Abiding by Harry's wishes, there will be no visitation or services. Remember, he was a no muss, no fuss kind of guy. Connie would like to thank Forbes Hospice in Pittsburgh for their wonderful care while Harry was there; Cousin Louise Mucci for her help, guidance and support; Dr. A. Ananth Raman for his compassion and knowledge, and all our friends and family for being there when we needed you. In lieu of flowers, Harry asks for donations to the organization from which his precious Sophie was adopted, Ohio Fuzzy Pawz Shih Tzu Rescue Inc., PO Box 356, Pataskala, OH 43062.
