Leonard M. Lattanzi, 84, of Vandergrift, passed away Friday, June 29, 2012, in Allegheny Valley Hospital, Natrona Heights. Leonard was born Feb. 10, 1928, in Vandergrift, to the late John and Mary (Bucci) Lattanzi. He lived in Vandergrift all his life. He was an operator on the continuous finishing line and was also a temporary foreman for a short period of time with U.S. Steel's Irvin Works in McKeesport for a total of 43 years, retiring in 1987. Leonard was veteran of the Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, Vandergrift; Vandergrift No. 2 Fire Department; Western PA Firemen's Association; Vandergrift VFW; former Sons of Italy, Vandergrift; and the Vandergrift Golf Course. Leonard's favorite pastime was golfing with his best friend, Tony C., and going to get a coffee. He enjoyed fly fishing for steelhead, going out to eat, and hunting at Three Pine Camp in Ridgeway, Pa. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Josephine Querio; grandson, Brett Allen Lattanzi; and great-great-grandson, DeAndre Justin Updegrove. Leonard is survived by his wife of 63 years, Clara Jane (Hansen) Lattanzi, of Vandergrift; daughter, Karen L. (Neal) Collier, of Lower Burrell; three sons, John L., Gregory A. and Jeffrey L. Lattanzi, all of Vandergrift; eight grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Antonette (Ted) Spysinski, of Taylor, Mich. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in the BRADY-CURRAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 429 Franklin Ave. Vandergrift. Parting prayers of transfer will be recited at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial that will be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Gertrude Roman Catholic Church, 303 Franklin Ave., Vandergrift, by Father James Loew, OSB. Entombment in Greenwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, Lower Burrell, where full military honors will be accorded by the Vandergrift Veterans Guard Inc.
