Michael P. Moran, of Shaler Township, peacefully passed away Monday, Jan. 30, 2012, at his home, surrounded by the love and care of his family after a courageous battle with renal cell cancer. Mr. Moran was the beloved husband of Mary Jo (Kurpiewski) Moran; father of Michael J. "Mickey" Moran (his fiancee, Alexandra Bejarano), of Amherst, N.Y.; son of Shirley (Cuda) Moran, of Shaler, and the late Charles Moran; brother of Sharon (Shawn) Zisk, of Oakdale, and Charles Moran, of Sharon; also survived by nieces and nephews. He was a graduate of Waynesburg University and a member of the wrestling and football teams. He was a case manager for Catholic Charities at St. Joseph's House of Hospitality. Mike always had a special place in his heart for the men living at St. Joe's. He was active in community service through youth sports programs. He coached Little League baseball and youth wrestling. He shared not only his knowledge of the sports, he provided young men with the skills to succeed in life. Mike served as vice president of Etna Baseball and was president of Shaler High School Wrestling Boosters. He was an avid fan of wrestling and served as a PIAA wrestling official. Celebrate Mr. Moran's life with his family from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the PERMAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICES INC., 923 Saxonburg Blvd. at Route 8, Shaler Township. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, Polish Hill.
