Dr. Robert F. Greene

1928 - 2016

Dr. Robert Francis Greene, M.D., 87, of Gibsonia, died Tuesday, March 8, 2016. He was born on April 2, 1928, in Pittsburgh, son of the late Francis and Marie (Manning) Greene. He was the beloved husband of Anne (Luchok) Greene; father of Kathleen (Fred) Wilson, Patrick (Marianne) Greene and Maureen (Richard) Loy; grandfather of Christine and Robert Wilson, Thomas, Kevin and Breanne Greene and Brendan and Sean Loy; brother of James Greene and the late William, Lawrence, Frederick and Raymond Greene; also survived by many nieces and nephews. A World War II Navy veteran, Robert proudly served as a Corpsman. He graduated from Central Catholic High School, University of Pittsburgh, and earned his medical degree from The Queens University in Northern Ireland, U.K. Robert served his internship at King's County Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y., completed five years in General Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh Health Center Hospitals and the Veterans Administration Hospital, and was board certified by the American Board of Surgery. He was in private practice at Indiana Hospital in Indiana, Pa. from 1964 to 1992, where he served as chairman, Department of Surgery. Robert was a member of the American College of Surgeons, Allegheny County Medical Society, Pennsylvania Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
Family will welcome friends from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at SCHELLHAAS & SONS FUNERAL HOME & CREMATION SERVICES INC., 1600 Stone Mansion Drive, Sewickley, PA 15143, Franklin Park/Wexford. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in St. Alphonsus Church, Wexford. Father Kevin Fazio, celebrant. Interment will follow in Holy Savior Catholic Cemetery.
