Ronald Barber Obituary
Ronald Dabney Barber, 56, of Sewickley, died Thursday, July 6, 2017. He was born Friday, Aug. 12, 1960, in Ft. Lewis, Wash., a son of Mary Lillywhite Barber and the late Alan Barber. Ron was a shareholder at Strassburger, McKenna, Gutnick and Gefsky, where he concentrated his practice in First Amendment law, media law and commercial litigation. He was a member of the American Civil Liberties Union Legal Community, and he was a past president of the Pittsburgh Chess Club. He was a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh School of Law. Ron, who had been an editor at the Pitt News while in college, served as pro bono legal advisor. He was also a former adjunct at Pitt and Point Park. In addition to his father, Ron was preceded in death by a brother, David Barber. Left to cherish his memory are his wife and fellow attorney, Jean E. Novak; mother, Mary Barber; two children, Zachary Alan Barber and daughter, Alexandrea Rae Barber; also surviving are his brother, Douglas Barber and wife Nadine.
Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the MARISCOTTI FUNERAL HOME INC., Anthony N. Mariscotti, Supervisor, 323 Fourth St., California, PA. A memorial service is being planned for September.
