Yassemine Khalil Obituary
Yassemine Khalil, 70, of Baldwin Borough, passed peacefully Monday, Sept. 22, 2014, surrounded by all of her children, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Elias Khalil; beloved mother of Josephine (Merwan) Aboud, Jamil (Odeese) Khalil, Nasra (Najib) Aboud, Lina (Joudat) Makhoul, Georgette Farah, Hannah (Mazen) Kahwash, Atallah (Jamie) Khalil, Firas (Jillian) Khalil and Johnny Khalil; and dear sister of the late Wadih and the late Elias, Naiem, Amaleen and Nuhad Nadour. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Yassemine enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren; she was well known for her wise words and always giving prayers to others. She loved to laugh and make people smile. She will be remembered for her kindness, generosity and warm heart. Family and friends were received Thursday, Sept. 25, 2014, at the JOHN F. SLATER FUNERAL HOME INC., 412-881-4100, 4201 Brownsville Road, Brentwood 15227, where Trisagion prayers were held Thursday evening. Visitation continued from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 26, in St. George Antiochian Orthodox Cathedral, 3400 Dawson St. Burial followed in St. George Cemetery, Bridgeville.
