Edith H. Wilson Obituary
Edith H. (Buck) Wilson, of Erie, passed away Friday, Oct. 19, 2018. She was born Jan. 6, 1919, in Pitcairn, where she grew up, married her soul mate, W. Wayne Wilson, and raised three daughters. After being widowed, she moved to Delmont and then to North East in 1990 and to Sarah Reed Senior Living in Erie in 2014. Edith is survived by her daughters, Carol Wilson, of California; Lorraine Wilson, of Colorado; and Donna Wilson (Terry Wayne), of Erie; her sister, Georgia Greer, of Jeannette; a nephew; and several nieces. Preceding her in death were her infant daughter, Barbara Jean; her beloved husband of 35 years; her parents, Ruth and George Buck; her Aunt Edith Jenny; and her brother, Jack Buck. Edith attended the University of Pittsburgh, married and raised a family, volunteered for many years with the Girl Scouts and the YWCA and took up oil painting in her 40s. After being widowed in 1975, she returned to college and completed a degree as an occupational therapy assistant at age 60. She then worked for five years before retiring. She was a longtime Quaker and a member of the Pittsburgh Friends Meeting and of the Erie Friends Worship Group. She was intrigued by lifelong learning, very interested in current affairs and was especially caring towards others. She was a gentle soul who tried her best to live a kind life, which she exemplified through her volunteer work and interactions with everyone she encountered.
