Bertha R. King

1923 - 2016

Bertha Rachel (Bungert) King, 93, of Murrysville, died Saturday, Nov. 26, 2016. She was born June 20, 1923, in Wilmerding, daughter of the late Cyril Michael and Anna Myrtle Remaley Bungert. In addition to her parents, Bertha was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William V. King Jr.; a daughter, Carol Rubright; four sisters, Blanche Highducheck, her twin sister, Mary Moose, Anna May Smith and Dorothy Higgins; and a son-in-law, Frederick Carroll. She is survived by two sons, Wm. Paul (Judy), of Charleston, S.C., and Dennis King, of Murrysville; three daughters, Donna Carroll, of Murrysville, Christine (Darrin) Nichter, of Rimersburg, and Lori Harris, of Forbes Road; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; a sister, Clara Marie Oslosky, of Murrysville; and two brothers, Cyril Edward Bungert, of Murrysville, and John Bungert, of South Carolina. Bertha was loved by so many children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and more. She embodied love, gentleness and kindness. She was an active participant in the Girl Scouts, worship and many other activities at Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, quilting with the ladies in the church, AARP, Golden-Agers, working at a daycare and many more associations throughout her life. She was an active cook, baker, crafter and gardener. She has told many of us that when we have another child or grandchild, you don't have to split the love that you already have. The love doubles and grows so you have enough for everyone. If this is true, her heart was bigger than all of us can imagine. She also often said "There's a place for everything and everything has it's place." Her place now is in our hearts and memories of the lives of everyone that she touched.
Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2016, at the HART FUNERAL HOME INC., Murrysville. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Export, with the Rev. Joseph Hedden officiating. Everyone please meet at church. Interment will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery, Export.
