Edwin G. Shupe Obituary
Edwin G. Shupe, 85, of Scottdale, passed away at 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2017, at his residence. Edwin was born Feb. 9, 1932, in Scottdale, a son of the late Blair and Sylvia Pearl (Markle) Shupe. He was married to Evelyn Ruth (Brothers) Shupe, who passed away April 6, 2002. Edwin was a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He worked as a core maker and grinder at Duraloy Blaw-Knox in Scottdale for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He was a loyal and faithful member of First Assembly of God Church in Scottdale and enjoyed playing on the dartball team. A veteran of the Army, he served as a private first class during the Korean Conflict. Edwin was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Korean Service Medal with a bronze star, United Nations Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal and the Combat Infantryman Badge. He was also noted for baking delicious fruit pies. Edwin will be sadly missed by his loving family: his three children, Bernice Wiltrout and husband Kevin and Jennifer Taxacher and husband Robert, all of Scottdale, and Edwin Shupe and wife Pam, of Concord, N.C.; his 13 grandchildren, Bethany Wiltrout, Kristin Holland (Adam), Sarah Smith (Casey), Michael Taxacher (Jalesa Sweitzer), Lauren, Melina, Julie, Emily, Anna and Luke Taxacher, and Kaitlyn and Ethan Shupe; his eight great-grandchildren, Savannah, Harper, Summer, Alisa and Emily Smith, Alahnah Taxacher, and Amelia and Micah Holland; a niece; and several nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Aaron Shupe; and his two brothers, George and Herman Shupe.
Personalized arrangements are under the professional supervision of ROBERT B. FERGUSON FUNERAL HOME, 105 Spring St., Scottdale (724-887-5300 / www.fergusonfunerals.com / GPS: N40 degrees 06.136, W79 degrees 35.278). Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 2 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel, where funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with his pastor, the Rev. Domer Snyder, officiating. Graveside committal service and interment next to his late wife will follow in Mt. Olive Cemetery with full military honors bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard.
