Elizabeth A. Thomas Obituary
Elizabeth A. Thomas, 91, of Greensburg, passed away Saturday, April 14, 2018, at Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital. Born Jan. 17, 1927, in Freeport, she was a daughter of the late Andrew F. Sweeney and Margaret D. (Kennedy) Sweeney. Elizabeth was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Greensburg. Prior to her retirement, she had been employed at Westmoreland Plastics. She enjoyed golfing, playing bingo and pinochle, and going to casinos. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James B. Thomas; a son-in-law, Paul R. Trout; four brothers, Victor, Raymond, Delbert, and Richard Sweeney; and two sisters, Frances Hesselgesser and Mary Lou Riddle. Elizabeth is survived by one son, John A. Thomas and his wife, Margaret, of Latrobe; two daughters, Patricia M. Trout, of Greensburg, and Jamie A. Brackin and her husband, John, of Greensburg; one brother, Robert Sweeney, of Freeport; one sister, Emma Jane Redlinger, of Washington, Pa.; two grandsons, Scott Richard Thomas, and James Donald Thomas and his wife, Amanda; one great-grandson, Landon James Thomas; one stepgrandson, Paul Matthew Trout; one stepgreat-granddaughter Melissa Renee Trout; and one stepgreat-great-granddaughter, Cadence Howard; she is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home with the Rev. Sung S. Chung officiating. Private interment will be at McKeesport and Versailles Cemetery.
