Emil M. Kuhar Obituary
Emil Michael Kuhar, 61, of Greensburg, passed away Friday, May 11, 2018, at his home, embraced by family and friends. He was born Aug. 20, 1956, in Charleroi, the son of the late Emil Joseph and Anna Huzway Kuhar. Emil was a 1974 graduate of Charleroi High School and a 1978 graduate of La Roche College in Pittsburgh. He was inducted into La Roche's Distinguished Alumni Circle in 2013, its inaugural year. For more than 20 years, Emil owned his own photography and design firm, Emil Kuhar Visual Communications, providing print media and photography services to the Western Pennsylvania area. Previously, Emil was employed by Malloy's Cameracade and Studio 2. Before the diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis in 2005, Emil enjoyed cycling and was an active volunteer. He designed t-shirts, brochures and newsletters for charitable groups, and fundraised extensively for the National MS Society. He said, "Volunteering to the best of one's ability is a reward in itself." Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Debbie Kovacik Kuhar; daughter, Elisa R. Kuhar and her partner, Dominic Housiaux; brothers-in-law, Bill and Peter Kovacik, and the rest of the Kuhar, Huzway, Shepelak, Kovacik and Reich families, as well as his extended family of steadfast friends. Emil had an incredible sense of humor and loved spending time with family and friends. He appreciated everything that everyone did to support him on his MS journey. Emil's family would like to extend a word of thanks to the Excela Westmoreland Hospital sixth floor ICU doctors, nurses, therapists and staff for their comforting care and kindness during Emil's hospital stay.
