George E. Gestler Obituary
George E. Gestler, 80, of Yukon, died Saturday, May 12, 2018, at Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg. He was born Feb. 19, 1938, in Whyles, Pa., son of the late George C. and Helen M. Swartz Gestler. Prior to his retirement, George served in the National Guard and then went on to work for Mill Service as a plant operator. George loved his family. He was a devoted husband and father. He loved to go on the annual family fishing trip to the fish hatchery, as well as having family dinners and picnics as often as possible. George was a very giving person, making sure that all of his family was taken care of. He took pride in each of his hand-made doll houses that he made for each of his granddaughters. George was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Dolores Gestler; and a granddaughter, Mary Katherine Kutzko. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Susan E. Bashioum Gestler, of Yukon; three daughters, Katherine Kutzko and significant other, Jim Leskosek, of Yukon, Sandra Walters and husband, Kurt, of Lewistown, and Christina Palm and husband Donald of Adamsburg; seven grandchildren, Katrina Ohler, Alyssa Kutzko, Sarah Forshey, Hannah Walters, Emmah Walters, Adilyn Palm and Wesley Palm; one great-grandchild, Ryker Izzo; one sister, Colleen Gestler, of Virginia; and a very special, dedicated friend, Bill Lengel, who stopped to check up on George for 11 years.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2018, at the BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2018, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Robert Green officiating. Interment will follow at West Newton Cemetery.
