Kenneth W. Schwarzel Obituary
Kenneth W. "Ken" Schwarzel, 75, of Export, passed away peacefully Sunday, March 11, 2018, in UPMC East, Monroeville. He was born May 20, 1942, in Wilkinsburg, a son of the late Mary Evelyn (Ferrington) Shelby and the late Kenneth Schwarzel. Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. Prior to retiring, Ken was employed as a truck driver by Air Gas. He was a past master of Forbes Trail Lodge No. 783 Free and Accepted Masons, Export, and was also a member of Pennsylvania Consistory and Pittsburgh Syria Shriners. He was an avid trapshooter and enjoyed hunting, fishing and numerous outdoor sports. He was a very active member of Murrysville Sports Club and West Penn Sports Club and a member of NRA, Slickville American Legion and Slickville Sportsmen's Club. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Debbie Kromer; and stepfather, Joe Shelby. Ken will be sadly missed by his devoted wife of 37 years, Judy (Fike) Schwarzel; sons, Robert C. Schwarzel, of Export, and William J. Schwarzel, of Greensburg; stepsons, Kenny Johnston (Charlotte), of West Virginia, James Johnston (Kelly), of Oklahoma, and Mark Johnston (Laura), of California; siblings, Janet Allebah, of Mercer, John C. Schwarzel, of Delmont, Joseph E. Schwarzel, of Russelton, and Joanne Shelby Klein (Michael), of Monroeville; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog, Mandy. Ken will be especially missed by his grandchildren, Dalton, Anthony, Jordan, Kara, Emily, Nicholas and Hannah; and great-granchildren, Ayden and Cayden; all of whom he was very proud.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Services officiated by Pastor Pete Hipple of Community Bible Church, Murrysville, and entombment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, will be private.
