Richard F. Farich Obituary
Richard F. "Rich" Farich, 79, of Washington, formerly of Yukon, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2018, at 12:46 p.m. at the Washington Hospital. He was born Nov. 14, 1938, in Yukon, the son of the late Matthew and Bertha Persin Farich. Mr. Farich was a 1956 graduate of South Huntingdon High School and was Catholic by faith. He served in the Army and Air National Guard from 1962 until 1967. He was employed for 39 years as an engineering specialist for Westinghouse Science and Technology Center until his retirement. Mr. Farich enjoyed boating, camping and fixing old cars and trucks. He was known as a mechanical genius and a perfectionist. He could fix anything. Mr. Farich was also a great teacher of auto mechanics, a great story teller and a wonderful family man who loved people. No one was a stranger to him and he made friends easily. Mr. Farich held many patents within his work. He was a world leader in the area of specialty optical grinding and polishing of exotic materials. He was a member of the Moose Lodge No. 22. Mr. Farich was also very proud of his Croatian Heritage. He married Shirley K. Krehel June 20, 1998, who survives. Also surviving are their children, Michael L. Farich, of South Huntingdon, Jill (Tod) Oblak, of Pittsburgh, and John R. Farich, of California; a sister, Becky Bobich, of Jacobs Creek; five grandchildren, Matthew Farich, Nicholas Farich, Samuel Farich, Merideth Farich and Emily Oblak. Mr. Farich is also survived by his loyal companion, "Ryder," the family cat who will miss him dearly. In addition to his father and mother, Mr. Farich was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathleen Farich, who died at birth.
Friends will be received from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018, in the WARCO-FALVO FUNERAL HOME INC., Wilson at E. Katherine Ave., Washington, S. Timothy Warco, supervisor/director, Susan Falvo Warco, director, S. Timothy Warco II, director. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2018, in the funeral home. Burial will be private.
