Sara J. Fulmer Obituary
Sara Jane Fulmer, 86, of West Newton, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, at UPMC East of Monroeville. Sara Jane was the daughter of the late Scott B. Fulmer Sr. and Sara Brunner Fulmer. She was born and raised on Oakdale Farms, established in 1785, and spent her entire life working alongside her parents and brother Allan. She and her mother cared for at one time 10,000 chickens, helped milk cows and did field chores. She loved to bake and cook for both family and field hands. She was an avid letter writer and wrote to keep in touch with family and friends across the country. She was the family historian who tracked genealogy back to 1785. She was a dedicated contributor to many charitable causes and a lifelong member of West Newton United Presbyterian Church. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Scott B. Fulmer Jr., of Fairbanks, Alaska, and infant nephew John Scott Fulmer. She is survived by her loving brother, Allan B. Fulmer Sr. and wife Kitty, of West Newton; sister-in-law, Kathy Fulmer, of Alaska; nephews, Allan B. Fulmer Jr. and wife Tracy, of West Newton, Larry Fulmer, of Alaska, and Lee Fulmer, of Alaska; nieces, Shirley Pranger and husband Joe, of San Antonia, Texas, Patty Olsen, of Alaska, and Janet Fulmer, of Great Falls, Mont.; a special great-nephew, Scott A. Fulmer, wife Kelsey and son John, Derek Pranger, James Horne and Taylor Horne; great-nieces, Alicia Fulmer, Kathryn Horne, Samantha Pranger, Mackenzie Fulmer and Kaylee Fulmer; and great-nephew Kevin Fulmer.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2017, at BEATTY-RICH FUNERAL HOME INC., Route 136, Madison. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 7, 2017, in the funeral home with her pastor, John Manon, officiating. Interment will follow at Mill Bell Cemetery, Sewickley Township.
