Edward F. "Ed" Novak, 61, of Slickville, passed away Thursday, June 7, 2018, in Excela Health Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, surrounded by his loving family. He was born Feb. 5, 1957, in Latrobe, a son of the late Frank and Olga (Plancic) Novak. Ed was a truck driver for L.J. Novak Oil Co., Slickville. He was a dedicated member of the Slickville Fire Department, where he formerly served as fire chief. Ed loved spending time with his family and friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his granddaughter, Alia. Ed will be greatly missed by his beloved family. He is survived by his loving wife of 33 years, Mary (Loughner) Novak; daughters, Jenny Novak, of Slickville, and Jessica Rader and her husband, David, also of Slickville; sisters, Diane Novak and Lorraine Novak, both of Slickville; brother, David Novak and his wife, Dymphna, of Greensburg; mother-in-law and father-in-law, Mary and Huey Loughner, of Jeannette; sisters-in-law, Jeannie Selembo (Billy), Cindy Oplinger (Bob), Susie Matthews and Debbie Dominczak (Bob); brother-in-law, Huey Loughner (Lois); and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He will be especially missed by his cousins, Al and Sally Anne Novak. Ed was the very proud grandfather of Shane Novak and Aubree Rader.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. Services by the Slickville Fire Department will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Funeral services for Ed will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday in Assembly of God Church, 246 Pleasant Valley Road, Jeannette, Pa 15644, with Pastor T.J. Kroll officiating. Everyone please meet at the church. Graveside committal services and interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, will follow.
