Arlene M. DeFrances Obituary
Arlene Mae (Lawrence) DeFrances, 81, of Salem Township, passed away peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 5, 2018, at home. She was born Aug. 18, 1937, in Slickville, a daughter of the late John James and Josephine Ann (Kirn) Lawrence. Arlene was a very loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She loved spending time with her family and friends. Prior to retiring, she was employed as a human resources administrator by Union Carbide. She was a longtime member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Slickville. She was an active American Red Cross volunteer and also a trigeminal neuralgia volunteer. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John James Jr., and sister, Audrey Jane. Arlene will be sadly missed by her beloved family. She is survived by her sons, Monte L. DeFrances and his wife, Alyssa, of Cochranton, and Cory L. DeFrances and his wife, Dawn, of Export; daughter, Marie C. DeFrances and her husband, Reza Zarnegar, of Gibsonia; former husband and best friend, Wayne L. DeFrances, of Salem Township; and friends. Arlene was the proud grandmother of 11 grandchildren and she treasured her seven great-grandchildren.
Family and friends will be received from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. A funeral Mass for Arlene will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday in St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 3028 Route 819, Slickville, with Father John J. Harrold as celebrant. Everyone please meet at the church. Committal services and interment in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont, will follow.
