Richard S. Miller Obituary
Richard S. Miller, 75, of Level Green, formerly of Murrysville, passed away peacefully Monday, Sept. 17, 2018, surrounded by his family. He was born Jan. 18, 1943, a son of the late Stanley and Esther Mae (Doelbor) Miller. Richard graduated from Hopewell Area High School and received his bachelor's degree in mathematics from Youngstown State University. After brief positions with a railroad and IBM, he spent most of his career at Westinghouse, mainly at the Energy Center in Monroeville. There, he worked throughout the IT department until eventually retiring from the position of corporate director of information systems. After retirement, he and his wife, Linda, enjoyed traveling together. He was an avid golfer and enjoyed watching the Steelers, Penguins and Pirates. He was dearly loved by his family and liked to meet often for family lunches. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Linda (Magestro) Miller. He is survived by three children, Robert Miller, of Chambersburg, Beth (Scott) Sherman, of Murrysville, and Kristy (Josh) Johnson, of Level Green; and six grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew and Brooke Sherman, and Olivia, Weston and Miles Johnson. He is also survived by a loving companion, Mary Jane Risbon, of Level Green; and special friends, Bill and Paula Murray, of Bradenton, Fla.
Friends and relatives will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2018, at VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday with the Rev. Marion Silbert of Newlonsburg Presbyterian Church, Murrysville, officiating.
