Dan T. Miller Obituary
Dan T. Miller, 67, of Greensburg (Salem Township), passed away unexpectedly Friday, Sept. 28, 2018, at home. He was born Sept. 1, 1951, in New Kensington, the son of Grace (Shawley) Smith and the late Thomas R. Miller. Dan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, son, and friend. He graduated from Greensburg Salem High School, received his B.A. from IUP and M.S. from Pitt. Prior to retirement, Dan was employed by the Westmoreland County Sheriff's Office as a deputy sheriff. He was a member of St. Sylvester Catholic Church, Slickville. Dan was also a member of Keystone Rod and Gun Club, Salem Gun Club, S.U.V. (Sons of Union Vets), and Friends of Gettysburg. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Pamela Miller Henderson. Dan will be sadly missed by his beloved family. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 42 years, Catherine (Steffenino) Miller; sons, David D. Miller M.D. (wife, Stephanie), of Fredericktown, and Gregory M. Miller, Ph.D. (wife, Melissa), of Massachusetts; and mother, Grace, Dan was the very proud grandfather of Adam, Zachary, Benjamin and Penelope.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC., 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, 724-468-1177. A funeral Mass for Dan will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday in St. Sylvester Catholic Church, 3028 Route 819, Slickville, PA 15684, with Father John J. Harrold as celebrant. Everyone please go directly to the church. Interment will follow in Iselin Union Cemetery, Saltsburg.
