Velma Davis Obituary

Velma R. Davis, 93, of Smithton, died Friday, April 7, 2017, at her residence. She was born Nov. 20, 1923, in South Huntingdon Township, a daughter of the late Joseph and Anna Belle Walters Mellinger. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jack M. Johnson; a son-in-law, Jack V. Johnson; three brothers, Joseph, John and David Mellinger; and four sisters, Zella Toth, Merna Gardner, Luberta Mellinger and Margaret Earley. She is survived by two daughters, Margaret Johnson, of Smithton, and Lisa Seich and husband Jeff, of Van Meter; three grandchildren, Velma Peterson and Julia and Brett Seich; three great-grandchildren, Jess, Lee and Michael; and five great-great-grandchildren, Brianna, Logan, Jesse, Brynn and Gavin.
Family and friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at L.L. BARTHELS FUNERAL HOME INC., Second Street, Smithton. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Monday in the funeral home. Burial will be in Olive Branch Cemetery, Rostraver Township.
