Mary Tokar Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 1, 2014.
Mary Elizabeth "Bette" Tokar, 91, of Charleroi, passed away Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Beaver. She was born Oct. 28, 1922, in Charleroi, the daughter of the late Albert A. and Nancy M. DeSellems Wilson. Mrs. Tokar was a lifelong and active member of the Charleroi Presbyterian Church and sang in the Sanctuary Choir and was a past member of the Athena Club. A devoted homemaker, she enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting, all of which she did to perfection. Her homemade fudge was the best. She loved watching all Pittsburgh sports teams on TV, especially her beloved Pirates. Mrs. Tokar is survived by three sons, Albert A. (Nancy) Tokar Sr. of Elkton, Md., Joseph R. (Julia) Tokar Jr. of Perryopolis, Arthur E. (Diane) Tokar of Hillsboro, Ohio; one daughter, Myra Leigh Tokar of Aliquippa, with whom she resided the past six years; six grandchildren, Nicole, Phillip, Nancy Leigh, Morgan, Alexandra, Albert A. III; and two great-grandchildren, Samantha and Zackary. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Tokar was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph R. Tokar Sr.; three sisters, Arvilla McFeely, Alberta Lovejoy and Jean C. Wilson; and one brother, Kenneth D. Wilson Sr. Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life at a memorial service Saturday, Oct. 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church, 5th and Lincoln Ave., Charleroi, with the Rev. Mark Woomer officiating. Private interment will be in Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The SCHROCK-HOGAN FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATIONS INC., Charleroi, was in charge of the arrangements. The family expresses thanks to her doctors and the staff at Good Samaritan Hospice for their loving care of our mom. Contributions may be made to the charity of your choice or the Charleroi Presbyterian Church.
