Evo Renacci Obituary

Evo Renacci of Carroll Township passed away peacefully at Monongahela Valley Hospital with his loving family by his side Aug. 31, 2013. He was born Aug. 3, 1925, in Monongahela, to Gulio and Caroline Renacci. After graduating from Donora High School in 1943, he joined the Navy and trained at Great Lakes Naval Academy. He served in the Pacific at Iwo Jima, Okinawa, Philipine Islands and Japan. He was on the USS Estes battleship and a recipient of the good conduct medal. He was employed at Corning Glass works, Donora Southern railroad and a salesman at Montgomery Wards before retiring as General Manager from Dealers Supply Co. in 1990 after 25 years. After retirement, he owned and operated Rose Glass Block in Carroll Township. He was a past member of the VFW. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora. He was preceded in death by his mother and father; and his sister, Marie McClane of Cocoa Beach, Fla. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Anna Marie Sasko Renacci; his daughters, Joyrena Leccia of Belle Vernon, and Michelle Gershenson of Houston, Texas; and son, Jim Renacci of Wadsworth, Ohio. He was also survived by his sister, Gloria Marinkovich of Carroll Township and her husband, Milan; brothers-in-law, Jerry, Rudy and George. Also surviving are sons-in-laws, John and David; and daughter-in-law, Tina; and seven grandchildren, Jeff, Jenna (Jon), Rachel, Hannah, Drew, Ryan and Rhiannon. He was greatly loved by many and will be sadly missed. Friends will be received 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2013, in the ANTHONY L. MASSAFRA FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE INC., 40 Second St. Ext., Donora, PA 15033, 724-379-6900, http://www.massafrafuneralhome.com. Prayers will be recited 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, in the funeral home followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of the Valley Church, Park Manor and Second Street Extension, Donora, with the Rev. Father Pierre Falkenhan as celebrant. Entombment will follow at Mon Valley Memorial Park, Donora. The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff of Amedisys Hospice, Dr. Alan Bramowitz and his staff for all of their care and concern. In lieu of flowers, the family is asking that donations be made to Our Lady of the Valley Church in Donora.
