Akira Marie Waters, 16, of Tinsmill (Avonmore), passed away Monday, Nov. 7, 2016, at UPMC Presbyterian in Pittsburgh. She was born May 19, 2000, in Avonmore, the daughter of Aaron T. and Sarah D. Shirey Waters. Akira was in the 11th grade at Kiski Area High School. She also attended the Northern Westmoreland Career and Technology Center, where she studied cosmetology. Akira was a graduate of the Barbizon School of Modeling in Pittsburgh. She loved clothing, shopping, fashion and time spent with her sisters. Akira was employed by Dunkin Donuts in Murrysville. She is survived by her mother, Sarah D. Shirey Blair and her husband, Samuel, of Tinsmill, her father, Aaron T. Waters (Kimberly Carson), of Vandergrift; two sisters, Aubrey and Aaralynn Blair; her maternal grandparents, John L. (III) and Amanda Shirley Shirey, of Tinsmill; her paternal grandparents, Robert A. and Wanda C. Walker Waters, of Vandergrift; and numerous aunts and uncles.
Family will receive friends from 1 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 11, 2016, in the KELLY L. CORRIDONI FUNERAL HOME LTD., 400 Indiana Ave., Avonmore. Services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016, in the funeral home, with the Rev. Alonzo "Lonny" Waters officiating.
