Kenneth Bondra Obituary
Dr. Kenneth Bondra went to the loving arms of our Lord and Savior Sunday, Dec. 2, 2018, following a brief illness. Dr. Bondra was born April 29, 1946, in New Kensington, to the late John and Helen Bondra. He was a graduate of New Ken High School, W and J College and Pitt Dental School. He served his maxillofacial surgical residency at the Mayo Clinic. Ken practiced maxillofacial surgery in Oil City, Franklin, and Meadville, Pa. He also practiced in Lexington, Ky. with the Kentucky Oral Surgery Group until retirement in 2015, and was an associate professor at UK Oral Surgery. Ken was a member of Greenbrier Country Club, where he was an avid golfer and was known for his theatrical displays of anger when he didn't play well. He was an automobile enthusiast who loved powerful sports cars and the need for speed. Ken had a creative sense of humor and a zest for life, and he was quick witted. He was loved by his oral surgery residents for his caustic candor, and he always had a smile on his face and was a very happy man. A kind-hearted, empathetic man who would give the proverbial shirt off his back to anyone in need, he was one of a kind in his authenticity and will be sadly missed. Survivors include his wife, Julie Straub Bondra; his daughter, Heather Bondra and her husband, Chad Bernhard; a granddaughter, Destiny Weiser, who he adored and traveled extensively with to exotic islands to support her desire to scuba dive; a brother, Mark Bondra and his wife, Cyndy; nephews, Luke and Dr. Jeremiah Bondra and William Matthews; and nieces, Kelsi and Sydney Straub. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Carol; a daughter, Kirsten; and his mother-in-law, Rosemary Straub Fulmer.
Friends are invited to attend a celebration of life at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 5, at the Limestone Hall, 215 W. Main St., Lexington, KY 40507. KERR BROTHERS FUNERAL HOME, Harrodsburg Road, Lexington, KY is in charge of arrangements.
