Lois J. Whitlinger Obituary
Lois Jean (Held) Whitlinger, 96, of North Apollo, passed away Sunday, Oct. 8, 2017, at Good Samaritan Hospice, Cabot. Born Sept. 7, 1921, in North Apollo, she was a daughter of the late Daniel E. Held and Rose P. (Riggle) Held. Lois lived in North Apollo all of her life and was a graduate of Apollo High School. She was a wonderful homemaker and was employed as a clerk for the North Apollo Post Office for several years. She was a member of First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Apollo, where she was a member of WELCA. Lois enjoyed quilting, cooking, baking, crossword puzzles and gardening. She also was an avid reader and enjoyed bowling and card club for many years. In addition to her parents, Lois was preceded in death by her husband, James W. Whitlinger; son, James "Jay" Whitlinger; brothers, Daniel and Kenneth Held; and sisters, Ruth (Held) Ortz, Fern Housholder and Lucy Held. She is survived by her sons, Ted A. (Jean) Whitlinger, of Columbus, Ohio, and Daniel L. Whitlinger, of North Apollo; daughter-in-law, Tammy (Shupe) Whitlinger, of Avonmore; grandchildren, Victoria L. (Tim) "Tori" Copper, of Avonmore, Elizabeth Whitlinger, of Belvidere, Ill., Jeff Whitlinger, of Geneseo, N.Y., and Tim Whitlinger, of Nashville, Tenn.; brother, Clair (Pearl) Held, of North Apollo; sister-in-law, Evelyn Held, of North Apollo; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2017, in the CURRAN-SHAFFER FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATORY INC., 100 Owens View Ave., Apollo. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2017, in First Evangelical Lutheran Church, Apollo, with Pastor Philip Ramstad officiating. Private burial will be in Riverview Cemetery, Apollo.
