Marcella M. Irvine Obituary
Marcella M. "Mae" (Matulis) Irvine, 85, of Curtisville, West Deer Township, died suddenly Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2017. She was born May 17, 1932, in Curtisville to the late Joseph and Edith E. (Thomas) Matulis. Mae grew up in Curtisville, graduating from West Deer High School in 1950. She was a member of the former Curtisville Presbyterian Church, Bull Creek United Presbyterian Church, the Philathia Class, the church Women's Association and the West Deer Alumni Group. Mae worked as a cook for the former Valley View Nursing Home, then Tandem Nursing Home, Indiana Township; worked as a clerk for the Butler Auto Auction for more than 50 years; and worked as a planter for Peterson Greenhouse in Springdale. She served as judge of elections at the Curtisville polling station in West Deer Township for more than 50 years. She enjoyed traveling, playing her slot machines, visiting her relatives, camping and especially spending time with her friends and family. Survivors include her children, Leanna Mae (Joseph) Shurina, of Curtisville, William J. (Shelly) Irvine, of Curtisville, Gerald L. (Debbie) Irvine II, of West Deer, Dean A. (Amy) Irvine, of West Deer, Anne Marie (Jeff) Mravintz, of Frazer, and Mark W. (Kim) Divelbiss, of Robinson Township; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Irvine; her daughter, Edith K. "Dee Dee" Werner; her sisters, Norma A. Burchell, June Olar and Darlene K. Divelbiss; and her brothers, Joseph and Robert Matulis.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday and from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at SIWICKI-YANICKO FUNERAL HOME, 23 McKrell Road, Russellton, West Deer Township, where services will be conducted at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Frank Deluce officiating. She will be privately laid to rest with her husband in Bull Creek Cemetery, West Deer Township.
